1925 SA Births 157A/113 ANDERSON Marjorie Pamela Harry Gunter ANDERSON Doris Victoria STOKES, Burra

Marjorie Pamela Preece was born on the 29th June, 1925, the only daughter of Henry Gunter Anderson and Doris Victoria Stokes. Marj believed that her mother had two miscarriages or stillborns one prior to her birth and one after. Marj attended the local primary school, but went to St Alloyious Catholic Boarding school in Adelaide for her secondary education, then attended the Conservatorium to study music and singing. Playing the piano was her instrument of choice. She achieved an Associate of the London College of Music in Singing in 1941 (ALCM) and a Licentiate from the London College of Music in 1942 (LLCM) also for singing. When she completed her studies she worked for Bennett and Fisher as a shorthand typist and boarded in Burnside (Adelaide) with Mrs Byrnes.

Allan was the oldest son of Stella and George Preece. He was born on the 4/2/1924 at Wolseley. He joined the army twice, the first time at 16 and his father advised he was underage and then again at 18.
Marj met Allan while he was working at the Loveday Internment Camp and they were married at St Augustine's Church of England at Unley on the 18th May, 1946. They honeymooned in Mt Gambier and lived with Marj's parents at Loveday whilst they were building their home in Cobdogla. Not long after completing their home at Cobdogla they were offered a Soldiers Settlement Block at Loxton. After much deliberation they chose this option and moved to Loxton where they lived in a tin shed (Nissan Hut) on their block until they built their home.
Marj always enjoyed her crafts and sewing and knitting, and her grandchildren.
In November of 2005 Marj had a horrific fall in her backyard ultimately resulting in her needing to move into care.

Marj had a much older foster brother called Gordon, but little else is known of him.
