Obituary:
MR. P. H. SMITH A well-known resident of Lismore, Mr. Percy Hilton Smith (52), died suddenly at Ballina on Thursday night after being ill only about a day. Mr. Smith was born on the Clarence River, and lived for some years at Adelaide. About 20 years ago he returned to the North Coast of N.S.W. and settled for a time on the Tweed River. He came to Lismore 18 years ago. For years' Mr. Smith conducted a business at South Lismore, and also established banana ripening, rooms, which he later transferred to Carrington Street, Lismore, and which became known as the Lismore Banana Co. He was interested in banana growing at the time of his death. Mr. Smith had lived at Bright Street, Lismore, for a number of years and had been holidaying at his cottage at Ballina for some months. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge North Coast United Service No. 459, and had been for years an active member of the Lismore Royal Arch. Chapter No. 681, Scottish Constitution. He had passed through the Chairs of the Chapter. He is survived by a widow, four sons and four daughters. The sons are Percy (Blakebrook), Kenneth (West Nimbin), Max (Public School, Upper Main Arm), and Lance (Lismore) and the daughters are Mrs. C.L. Rose (West Nimbin), Mrs. D.M. Mahoney (Murwillumbah), Mrs. A. Stone (Lithgow), and Miss Narelle Smith (Lismore). The funeral will leave the Lismore Church of Christ tomorrow after a service, commencing at 12.30 p.m. for the Lismore cemetery.

OBITUARY:
MR P. H. SMITH
Mr. Percy Hilton Smith, of 43 Bright Street, Lismore, who died suddenly at Ballina on Thursday night, was buried yesterday after noon, in the Church of Christ portion of the Lismore cemetery. The remains were conveyed to the Lismore Church of Christ, where there was a packed church for the service conducted, by Pastor J.C. Cunningham. Mr. E.C. Savill officiated at the organ. In an address in the church Pastor Cunningham paid a tribute to the life of Mr. Smith and of his associations with the Church of Christ. Among the large congregation at the funeral were many members of the Masonic fraternity. Mr. Smith was a member of Lodge North Coast United Service No. 459, and of the Scottish Royal Arch Chapter. He had been particularly active in the latter. At the church the pall-bearers were Messrs. Max, Ken and Ray Smith (sons), C.L. Rose., D.M. Mahoney, and A. Stone (sons-in-law). The wreaths at the church were carried by Messrs. A.K. Barnes (W.M.), A.V.E. Overall, E. Lock. C.A. Pitt, G.H. Lyndon, L. Cannell, R. Coombes. N.C. McGuiness, W. Nicholson and H. Riddle (Lodge 459). J. Lucas and H.D. Ross (Lismore R.A. Chapter), G.H. Jack son (Lodge Lismore Temperance). The pall-bearers at the cemetery were J. Hewitson. Duncan Brown, C. Muscio, C. Dunstan and C.Hanen (Lismore R.A. Chapter), and J.H. Frith (Lodge 77). The graveside service was conducted by Pastor Cunningham, and the Masonic service by Wor. Bro. A.K. Barnes, of Lodge 459, assisted by Comp. Duncan Brown, of the Lismore R.A. Chapter. Will Riley and Son had charge of the funeral arrangements.
