Southland Times, 21 June 1912
By the express last night there were brought to Invercargill eight roller tumbler pigeons, ex Nairnshire, from Liverpool. These birds, which are the property of Mr E. Howarth, were looked after on the voyage by Mr A. Toshach, of West Plains, and that he was a good guardian is proved by the fact that though there were only six birds when they started there were eight when they were delivered. Two young ones were reared during the voyage.
