Edie left David Todd during WW2 and ended up in London where she met William Carter, (Shirley Clover's dad), he was Welsh and in the Merchant Navy with the supply ships that took victuals to the warships, known as the "Baltic Run" (which was very dangerous).

Edie lived in New Zealand for 35 years before her death in 1997.

Death Notices:
LAVERY, Edith Ellen (Edie). - Peacefully on October 18, 1997 (aged 77) at Cranford hospice. Loved mother of Ian and Marlene Todd (Australia), and Shirley and Graeme Clover (Wellington). Much loved grandmother of David and Tammy, Philip and Andrew, Stephen, Andrew and Allison, and great-grandmother to Kye Todd. Fond sister of Leslie Young (Scotland). Special thanks to the staff at Cranford Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers donations to Cranford hospice posted directly to PO Box 8119, Havelock North would be appreciated. A service for Ede will be held in the Beth Shan Chapel (157 Georges Drive) Napier on Wednesday at 11am. Thereafter private cremation at Napier. Messages to C/o PO Box 439, Napier. Warren's Funeral Service FDANZ Napier.

LAVERY, Edith Ellen (Edie). - Thanks for all the special times and laughter we shared. You were a very special little lady who touched a lot of people in so many ways. We will always remember you. Rest in peace with no more pain. Much loved friend to Judy, Rebecca, Glen, Wendy, Sean, James and Hayley. And wonderful companion to Ada over the last few months.
