According to a letter written by from Doris Stokes dated May 1918 to Mary Ann Anderson (nee Gunter) of Adelaide South Australian, she comments that: "My brother-in-law is a prisoner of War also. Was captured on March 24th on the Cambrai & St Quentin front." (Is Doris referring to William Stephen Young, her sister, Bessie's husband?)

At the time of his marriage in 1916 William Young (batchelor) was a Soldier and he resided at West Street Cottages.

Extract of entry in Register of Births at Lochee, Dundee, of William Young Sr. is dated 12 Jan 1953 when he was 68y.

William was noted as a Baker on his daughter's death certificate.
