Mr. George Hurley Dead
The death occurred at Colonel Light Gardens (Adelaide) last night of Mr. George James Hurley, of 97 Morgan Street, Broken Hill.
Mr. Hurley, who was 72 years of age, was born at Wallaroo, but came to Broken Hill about 50 years ago. He was first employed along the line of lode as a blacksmith and wheelwright, but later joined tho employment' of the City Council. He was well known here because of his association with the Council.
A son, Mr. Charlie Hurley, was well known as a local footballer and umpire here. Another son drives a Thomas Street bus. Other sons are well known at the Semaphore as sideshow proprietors. Mr. Hurley was a member of the Municipal Employees' Union and worked until about 12 months ago. He was a member of the G.U.O.O.F Silver Star Lodge and the Silver City Workingmen's Club.
Mrs. Hurley died in 1931, but a family of nine sons and one daughter survive. They are:-Messrs. G. L., C. M., W. T., A. F., H. H., J., E. V., R. D., and D. J. Hurley, and one daughter, Mrs. E. L. James.
The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the residence of Mr. E. V. Hurley, 97 Morgan Street, at 2 p.m. under the direction of Tom J. Mallon. Arrangements for the remains to be brought to Broken Hill were made by F. W. Moore, undertaker, of Military Road, Semaphore.
