Dear Jessie
Just a few lines in answer to yours of the 27th.

Was very sorry to hear of your loss in the death of Aunt Polly. Poor soul she is better off, what with one thing and another she had suffered a lot, and when one gets on in years they just can't take it anymore. We sometimes wonder what it is all about, why when they get old they have to suffer, goodness only knows life is not any to easy at the best of times.

I do wish you had let us know before, how things were going not that I could have been of any help, but Mother would have liked to have heard from you. I could never make out not hearing from you, I thought perhaps I had said something to hurt you but they say no news is good news, but in this case, it was not so.

Well Jess I told Mother and she was very sorry, I am sorry to say she has not improved any, just seems at a standstill, she is blind, can't hear but very little, and can't walk very much, just able to get around the house by herself, we take her out in the car, and that is about all the change she gets. Still it could be worse.

We have had about 1 month of real nice weather this year, very changeable, and quite cool all the time, we went 24 days without any rain, but it seems to have broken now. Well Jess it is 17 years today since we had Dad's funeral, and buried his ashes on the 18th. My how time does fly, Aunt Polly going has cleared up the Gunter family. Sorry to hear you have to move but it might be the best in the long run, maybe you will be able to adjust yourself quicker.

Are you still in the telephone office. Doris is an accountant and district supervisor in the same, has been there 26 years, quite an old hand.

I am glad to say her and Fred are both well, as for myself I don't get time to be sick, but are feeling better at times.

Well I think this is all for now, do let us know when you get time how you are going on, remember us all to the rest of the family, we never hear from any of them, love to all from all.
Your affect. Cousin
L. Rawlins
