The Advertiser (Adelaide) Wednesday 24 September 1919 HONORING SOLDIERS. Cherry Gardens, September 10. On Saturday evening in the Rechobite Hall a welcome was given to Sargeant Laurence Robert Lewis. There was also a reunion of the returned soldiers, including Sergeants Darcy, Cox, Harold Rawnsley, Corporal Eric Cox, Privates Clifford, Paddick, Melville, H. Paddick, Sidney Brealey, Edward Scroop, Leland R Broadbent, Alex Coate and Hal Jacobs. Mr. S. W. Chapman was chairman. Mr. Henry Jacobs, the Rev. J. Blight, and Miss Jacobs also spoke. The school children, under Miss Jacobs, contributed to the programme. Sargeants A.T. Strange and R Broadbent, and Privates Brown, Hill, Strange, Mitchell, were unable to be present. The hall was decorated by Mrs. T. Jacobs and Miss Jacobs and others, the color of each soldier's battalion was represented, surrounded by a wreath of laurel leaves, as a token of heroism. The colors of the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice were surrounded by a laurel wreath, accompanied by the words, "We will never forget." Supper and games followed.
