Evening Journal (Adelaide, SA : 1869 - 1912) Wed 26 Jun 1907 PERSONAL Mrs. Tosbach (nee Miss Ethel Bruse) and family arrived in Adelaide on Sunday, and journeyed to the Burra to stay with her parents for a fortnight. Mr. Toshach went to Broken Hill to fulfil lecturing engagements, and when there received a telegram informing, him of the death of his only daughter. This is the second death in the family within a few weeks.

The Brisbane Courier (Qld. : 1864 - 1933) Wed 17 Jul 1929 Social Column: Much sympathy is felt for the Rev. Wm. Laidlaw Toshach and his five sons on the sudden death of Ethel May Toshach, after a brief illness of 27 hours, Mrs. Toshach, nee Ethel Bruce, was a singing pupil of Mr. C. J. Stevens, of Adelaide, and her volce was praised by Darne Nellie Melba and Clara Butt. She was often engaged to sing the contralto solos In tho "Messiah." She had been trained as an opera singer, having taken part with leading artists from the Old Country, and had declined lucrative offers In order to devote her talents to helping her husband In his evangelistic work. The funeral was largely attended.
