The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1889 - 1931) Thu 28 Nov 1929 Page 8 EIGHTY-THIRD BIRTHDAY Mrs. Penn, of Te Anau-avenue, Prospect, celebrated the eighty-third anniversary of her birth on Wednesday. Born In Bristol, she came to South Australia with her parents in the ship Oriental, commanded by Captain Mackintosh, arriving at Port Adelaide in November, 1855. Mrs. Penn is the twin daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Osborne, of Port-road, Hindmarsh, where she resided with her parents until her marriage to Mr. George Penn in 1869. After the death of her husband In January, 1888, Mrs. Penn left Ovingham and went to live at Prospect, where she has resided for the last forty-two years. There were seven children of the marriage --Mr. H. V. Penn (Tranmere), the late Miss Fanny Penn, Mrs. E. L. Hughes (Prospect), Mr. G. O. Penn (India), Mrs. I. H. Qurban (Seacliff), Mrs. J. A. Wood (Ovingham), and Mrs. J. E. Hancock (Prospect).
The Advertiser Wednesday 15 Jun 1938 PENN.--On the 14th of June, at her residence, 6 Te Anau avenue, Prospect, Mary relict of George Penn, late of Ovingham, and beloved mother of Mr. G.O. Penn and Mesdames E.L. Hughes, Mrs. I.H. Qurban, Mrs. J A. Wood, Mrs. J.E. Hancock, and the late Mr. H.V. and Miss F. Penn, and loving aunt of Mr. E.O. Thomas, in her 92nd year. Private funeral. No mourning, by request of deceased.
