News from the Country:
ALDGATE, December 20.-There was a large attendance of parents and friends at the "break up" of the public school. Every child received a gift of sweets and a pretty card. The children returned the compliment with a presentation to each of the teachers. A lengthy programme was presented. Marjorie Harris, Nellie Mullin, Edna Nation, and Joe Moore sup- plied elocutionary items. The well-balanced part singing of the children was much admired. Solos were rendered by Doreen Wissell, Nellie Mullin, Elsie Mildren, and Ruth Wallace. A special feature was the sight singing from manual signs entirely under the control of the children. Prizes, which had been provided by Messrs. Lane, Fischer, Carver, and Langsford, and Mrs. Harris, and qualifying certificates, were distributed to the winners.
