BUFFALO'S PASSENGERS DESCENDANTS IN S.A.
To The Editor
Sir-I wonder if one could discover how many children there are now in South Australia who can claim ancestors on both sides who arrived in the State in the Buffalo in 1836? I am enclosing photos of my three, who can. The eldest is six years of age and the youngest one year. Their father's grandfather, Warwick Langley, and my maternal great-grandfather and great- grandmother, Luke and Harriet Broadbent, arrived by the Buffalo in 1836, and great-grandfather and great-grandmother, Henry and Ann Field arrived shortly after. I don't know the name of the vessel they came by. My paternal grandfather and grandmother, Isaac and Elizabeth Jacobs, arrived by the John Renwick early in 1837. Elijah, a son of Luke and Harriet Broadbent, married Caroline, the daughter of Henry and Ann Field, and Maria, a daughter of theirs, married Thomas, a son of Isaac and Elizabeth Jacobs. (My mother, Maria Jacobs, is still living, now aged 77 years). I am the eleventh of their fifteen children, thirteen of whom are still living. One of the two deceased gave his life in the Great War; the other died as an infant. My husband Herbert Langley's grandfather, also had 15 children, some of whom are still living. -I am, Sir, &c., Wanda Langley. Hopetoun avenue, Kilburn.
