NEW SECRETARY.
Mr V. H. Bentley Chosen.
Mr Victor Herbert Bentley has been appointed secretary of the Police Department in place of Inspector C. Treadgold, who has begun his long-service leave prior to retiring. Mr Bentley was born in Victoria in 1889 and came to this State in 1896. In May, 1904. he joined the civil service and was employed in the Mines Department for seven years. For three years he was in the Chief Secretary's Department and Mr. V. H. Bentley (photo) for the last 30 years has been connected with the Police Department. Mr Bentley has been the officer in charge of records for 20 years and during that period was associated, as secretary, with the Police Benefit Fund, which ceased to function when the Government Superannuation Fund came into operation.
