The Will of George Hews 8th August 1734 In the Name of God Amen I George Hews of Newton Kyme in the County of York yeoman being weak and infirm in body but of sound mind and memory Do make this my last will and Testament as follows. I give unto my sister Elizabeth Harper ten pounds to be paid to her by my Executors within six months after my decease. I give unto Mary the widow of my brother John Hews Twenty pounds to be paid her by my Executors within six months after my decease. I give unto each of my two Nephews Richard Harper and John Harper five pounds apiece to be paid to them by my Executors within six months after my decease. I give unto my Niece Jane Harper five pounds to be paid to her by my Executors within six months after my decease. I give unto my niece 1Mary Kedar of Stockton near York five pounds to be paid to her by my Executors within six months after my decease. I give unto my two nephews Anthony Hews and George Hews Sons of my Brother William Hews deceased five pounds apiece to be paid to them by my Executors within six months after my decease. I give unto my two nieces Elizabeth and Mary the Daughters of my said Brother William Hews deceased five pounds apiece to be paid to them by my Executors within six months after my decease. I give unto my Niece 1Mary Webster of the City of York five pounds to be paid to her by my Executors within six months after my decease. I give unto my God-daughter 1Elizabeth Harper One Guynea. I give unto my God-daughter 1Sarah Tasker One Guynea to be paid within six months after my decease. I give unto the Poor people of the Town of Newton Kyme aforesaid Twenty Shillings to be distributed amongst them at the discretion of my Executors within one month after my decease. I give unto the Minister of the parish of Newton Kyme aforesaid five shillings to buy a pair of gloves with. And lastly I give unto my two Nephews William Hews of Newton Kyme aforesaid and William Hodgson of Tadcaster in the County of York all my personal Estate whatsoever they paying the Legacies above mentioned and do hereby constitute and appoint the said William Hews and William Hodgson sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In Wittness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the Eighth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Thirty four.
