Mount Torrens district has lost one of its best-known residents with the death of Mr. Benjamin Thomas Barth lomew, at the age of 67. He was in business in Mount Torrens and had lived in the district all his life. He was secretary of Mount Pleasant Show, the Oddfellows' Lodge, and Torrens Valley Football Association, and Torrens Valley Cricket Association, and was a keen worker for any district appeals or organisations.

- Mr. B. T. Bartholomew -
After a serious illness extending over several months, Mr. Benjamin Thomas Bartholomew passed away at his residence, Mount Torrens, on Saturday morning last, at the age of 67 years. "Ben" Bartholomew, as he was familiarly and almost universally termed, was one of the most likeable of men, always out to assist others, and as secretary to the Mount Pleasant show, which organisation he practically carried on for very many years, he was known throughout South Australia, so much so that the show and Mr. Bartholomew had become to be known almost as synonymous. Here will be a great difficulty in replacement. He did much for his home town, and will he greatly missed in every way. He leaves a wife, two sons (Fred and Bob). Interment took place in the Mount Torrens cemetery on Sunday afternoon. Rev. E. Lawson officiating at the graveside
