1924 SA Marriage 299/296 CHURCHER Frank William TOOP Ida Miriam Frome
The Mail Saturday 3 May 1924 CHURCHER-TOOP. At the Orroroo Methodist Church on April 19, Ida M., youngest daughter of Mrs. and Mr. W. Toop, of Orroroo, was married to Frank William, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Churcher, of Underdale - and Wepowie. The church was elaborately decorated, and a festoon of creeper and white flowers across the chancel held, suspended a large wedding bell with the initials of the bride and bridegroom on either side. The Rev. A. M. Trengrove officiated, and Miss A. Forbes, cousin of the bride, presided at the organ. The bride was dressed in white satin, charmeuse embroidered with pearls and accordeon pleated georgette caught on either side with clusters of orange blossoms and pearls. The veil was arranged with coronet of pearls and orange blossoms. The bride's only ornament was the bridegroom's gift, a pearl crescent brooch. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses and carnations. The bridesmaid, Miss T. Forbes (cousin of the bride), wore a dress of coral shade satin tosca, early Victorian style, with small picket edge frills of georgette on either side, black satin hat. She carried a veiled bouquet of autumn tints. The bridegroom's brother, Mr. Alec Churcher, acted as best man. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a gold watch and chain. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe entwined with orange blossoms and ribbon. At the lecture hall the bride's mother received her guests. About 70 sat down, to breakfast. The usual toasts were proposed by the Rev. A. M. Trengrove and Mr. C. Halliday. The newly-wedded, pair then left by train for Adelaide, en route for Port Elliot, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride travelled in a three piece costume of oyster gabardine with floral marocain top, coat braided and trimmed with fur, hat en suite. Many presents were received.
