The Advertiser (Adelaide) Saturday 23 January 1926 CARS IN COLLISION. Shortly before midnight, on Thursday a collision took place on the Port road, West Hindmarsh, between a motor car, driven by Mr. Gordon Swanbury, of Bertie street, West Hindmarsh, and one driven by Mr. Bertram A. Wellman, of Robert street, Sandwell. There were several passengers in Mr. Wellman's car. All escaped with shock and minor injuries. The cars' were badly damaged.
Border Watch (Mt Gambier) Saturday 1 April 1939 Kodak Representative Addresses Local Discussion Group: Mr. Gordon Swanbury, of Kodak Ltd. addressed a meeting of the Mount Gambier Photographic Discussion Group at Mr. M. R. Pocock's residence, Eglinton Terrace on Wednesday night. A special meeting was called to hear Mr. Swanbury, who gave a very interesting outline on the history of photography. At the conclusion of the address, many questions were answered, and a most instructive evening was spent by all present.

News (Adelaide)Wednesday 29 March 1944 Dangerous Driving Charge denied Gordon Ashley Swanbury, 49, assistant manager, of Main street, Henley Beach, was charged before Mr. Justice Angas Parsons and jury in the Criminal Court today with having, at Henley Beach road, Fulham, on February 16, driven a motor car in a manner dangerous to the public, and thereby caused the death of Antonino Taverna. 15. of Rowell's road, Lockleys. He pleaded not guilty, and was represented by Mr. C. T. Gun. The Crown Prosecutor (Mr. Chamberlain) said the boy was riding a bicycle along the road about midnight, when accused ran into him from behind. (Proceeding)
The Advertiser (Adelaide) Tuesday 29 March 1944 For Trial On Driving Charge At the conclusion of an adjourned Inquest yesterday, the Acting City Coroner (Mr. Ziesing, S.M.) committed Gordon Ashley Swanbury assistant manager, of Main street, Henley Beach, for trial at the next Criminal Sessions. He found that Swanbury had driven a motor car along Henley Beach road at Fulham on the night of February 16, without having any headlights burning and without keeping a proper look-out. His culpably negligent driving had caused him to run down and fatally injured Antonino Taverna, 15, of Rowells road, Lockleys. Mr. C. T. Gun for Swanbury, Messrs. Hargrave and Kinnane for relatives of deceased, and the Crown Prosecutor Mr. Chamberlain for the police.

JUSTICE ANGAS PARSONS:- Road Death Case.-The trial was continued of Gordon Ashley Swanbury, assistant manager, of Main street, Henley Beach, on a charge that he drove a motor car in a manner that was dangerous to the public at Henley Beach road, Fulham, on February 16, and thereby caused the death of Antonino Taverns, 16, of Rowell's load, Lockleys. The bearing was adjourned until today. Opening the defence case, Mr. C. T. Gun said that Swanbury was driving properly and with lights on, one perhaps slightly defective. Swanbury was keeping a moderately good look-out. There was no one on the road in front of him as he crossed Tapley's Hill road. The deceased and a girl were at the road side; the boy, about to ride away, or perhaps standing with his bicycle, was partly behind a bush. Swanbury did not see them and did not know he had hit anyone. Swanbury was allowed bail until today.
News (Adelaide) Tuesday 8 August 1944 £20 Fine Sequel to Fatal Accident Arising out of an accident on the night of February 16, when an Italian boy cyclist was killed. Gordon Ashley Swanbury, photographer, of Port Pirie, was fined £20 with 10/ costs in the Adelaide Traffic Court today. Swanbury pleaded guilty through Mr. C. T. Gun to a charge of having driven a motor car in a manner dangerous to the public at Henley Beach road, Fulham, on February 16. The Crown Prosecutor (Mr. R. R. Chamberlain) said that Swanbury was originally charged with the manslaughter of the boy, but after a protracted hearing the jury disagreed, and Swanbury was discharged.
News (Adelaide) Thursday 19 October 1944 Parents Get £791 For Son's Death Judgment for £71/1/ was granted to Antonio Taverna, gardener, of Rowell's road, Lockleys, and his wife. Carmela Taverna, again Gordon Ashley Swanbury, manager, of Main street, Henley Beach, by Mr Justice Reed in the Supreme Court today. Mr. and Mrs. Taverna had sued in respect of the death of Antonio Taverna, aged 15, who died following a collision between a car driven by Swanbury and a bicycle the boy was riding on the Henley Beach road, Lockleys on the night of February 16. Liability was not disputed. The damages were apportioned £641/1/ for Taverna and £150 for his wife. The sum awarded to Mrs. Taverna was solatium, and £100 of the amount awarded to Taverna was solatium, the balance being damages for loss of the son's services in the garden, and for funeral expenses.

The Advertiser (Adelaide) Friday 29 August 1952 Country Section Mounted Umpire And Trophies For Crowd PORT PIRIE, Aug. 28. Pirie's most unorthodox footballers will take the field on Sunday afternoon at the Globe Oval, Solomontown, when bookmakers and punters, will meet publicans and customers in a match in the interests of St. John's Convent. Trophies valued at £50 will be presented to spectators. Fred Stigwood, a former Solomontown and North Adelaide star, will be the central umpire, and Gordon Swanbury, a local photographer, will be mounted on a horse in case the game becomes too fast for officials on foot.
Recorder (Port Pirie)Wednesday 25 November 1953 Good Samaritans Recently Mr. Gordon Swanbury, acting on behalf of the managements and staffs of International, Barrier, Exchange, and Central Hotels, handed to "The Recorder" £36 collected as a gesture of aid to Mr. and Mrs. M. Stephanides, of Revell street, who lost their two infant daughters in a fire at their home on November 3. The men behind the idea did not let it drop it at that, and yesterday an additional £11 12/3 was handed in. The money was subscribed at International Hotel £6 8/, Barrier Hotel £4 2/, and Royal Exchange £1 2/3. The complete total is £47 12/3.
