The Register Saturday 26 December 1925 WILLIAMS- TOMKINS WEDDING The marriage of Richard John Williams only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Williams, of Fitzroy, and Gertrude Winnifred Tomkins, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Tomkins, of Croydon, took place at the Robert Street, Hindmarsh, Church of Christ, took place on Wednesday, December 23, Pastor E. J. Paternoster officiated. Miss D. Hall played the wedding march. A solo was given by Mr. J. Weeks. The bride was frocked in ivory crepe de chine with silver lace and silver lace train lined with shell-pink georgette, and finished off with orange blossom. She had an embroidered veil, and coronet of orange blossom, and carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies. The first bridesmaid, Marjory Tomkins, wore a pink crepe de chine and guipure lace dress with knife-pleated apron effect; gold tissue bandeaux around hair. May L. Tomkins, second bridesmaid, was dressed in heliotrope crepe de chine and guipure last, with knife-pleated panels; a gold tissue bandeaux around hair. Each bridesmaid carried a bouquet. The train-bearer, Rita Everett, wore a pale-blue crepe de chine frock and Dutch cap of silver tissue, Mr. G. Swanbury was best man, and Mr. F. Tomkins groomsman. The bridesgroom's present to the bride was a 'Nellie Stewart' bangle, and statuary to the bridesmaid. The trainbearer received a gold brooch engraved with her monogram. The guests were received at the Rechabite Hall, Hindmarsh, by the bride and bridegroom and their parents. The wedding breakfast was served in the supper room, the tables being tastefully arranged and decorated with pink carnations and scabiosa. After the loyal toast was honoured, Pastor E. J. Paternoster proposed "The bride and bridegroom," which was acknowledged by the bridegroom. "The bridesmaids," by Mr. T. H. Brooker, and replied to by Mr. G. Swanbury. Mr. W. Hall submitted "The parents" Messrs. R. Williams and A. Tomkins responded. Misses S. Paternoster rendered a song, and Miss D. Hall a recitation. Games and dance took place, and musical items were contributed by Mr. and Mrs. P. Bowering, Miss D. Battersby, Messrs. W. Hall, J. Weeks. Mr. C. Wood was pianiste, and Mr, C. S. Tomkins, M.C.
