Advertiser BAWDEN Winifred Florence 2005 (d. 23 Dep - Pub 26 Sep 2005)

The Advertiser Thursday 12 Apr 1934
Bawden- Williams.
The Alberton Methodist Church was prettily decorated with white perennial aster and pink Easter lilies on March 28 when the marriage was celebrated of Lionel, son of Mrs. Bawden of Tumby Bay, to Winnie, daughter of Mrs Williams, of Alberton. The bride who was given away by her brother, Mr. Alan Williams, was gowned in white satin cut on fitting lines to the knees and fully flared to the ground. The V neck was faggoted, and the long sleeves were shirred. The tulle veil, edged with lace was held in place with two bands of orange blossom, and a narrow ribbon under the chin. The bride carried a sheaf bouquet of tuberoses, Madonna dahlias and white roses. Her bridesmaids, Misses Cora and Eileen Williams, sisters of the bride, were frocked alike in pink windswept crepe, cut on fitting lines, with flared skirt and short puff sleeves. Their wide-brimmed hats were of the same shade in straw, trimmed with a matching color in organdie. They carried sheaf bouquets of pink gladioli and roses. The bride was also attended by her little niece, Aileen Turnbull, who wore a pink windswept crepe frock and hat made in early Victorian style. The frock had short puffed sleeves and small frills from the waist to the ground. She carried a basket of pink carnations, roses, and dahlias. Mr. A. Jelly was the best man and Mr. R. Wellcoat groomsman. During the signing of the register Mrs. L. Pearce sang. A reception was held in the I.O.O.F. Hall at Alberton where about 80 guests were received by the bridal party. Mrs. Williams (bride's mother) was frocked in navy marocain trimmed with lemon, and her wide brimmed navy hat was trimmed with the same shade, and she carried a posy of red roses. Miss O. Bails (aunt of the bridegroom) chose brown figured marocain for her frock with a fan hat, and she carried a posy of red roses. The bride's travelling frock was a blue costume with a grey silk blouse, worn with a grey soft straw hat.
