Courtesy of Lance Bails 2017: Sidney served on the "HMAS MARGUERITE" in 1927 on Navy Reserve duties. "HMAS MARGUERITE" was a 1,250 ton Arabis Flower Class Minesweeping Sloop, 267ft 9ins Long, Built in 5 Months by Dunlop Bremner & Co, Port Glascow, Scotland in July 1915, launched 23 November 1915 for the Royal Navy, she sailed to Australia with "GERANIU " and "MALLOW" in 1919 to clear mines laid by the German raider "WOL ". She was transferred to Australia 8/6/1919 and commissioned by Royal Aust Navy 17 January 1920. She spent 9&1/2 years on Fleet & Naval Reserve. "HMAS MARGUERITE" was dismantled in September 1932 at Cockatoo Island, Sydney NSW, then sunk by gunfire off the coast of New South Wales in the "Disposal Area" on 1st August 1935.
Sid worked when a boy at Gill's Cycle shop before working in the Chaff Mill with his Father and Uncle's, he then took up employment from 1940 to 1963 as a Driver for the MTT = Municiple Tramways Trust , Transport services.
