POLICE COURTS.
Charge of larceny:
Mary Elisabeth Anguin was charged with stealing one brown wickerwork basket, containing four £1 - notes, a purse, piece of gossamer, aad a pair of gloves. Mr. H. E. Downer, M.P., defended.
The evidence for the prosecution showed that Robert George Hughes with his wife and mother was driving in Prospect and that they left the trap at the corner of Church and Argyle streets to go into his brother's house. The basket was left in the front of the trap, and it was not noticed till Hughes was driving down O'Connell-street, North Adelaide. They informed the North Adelaide police and then went to Angwin's house at 11 o'clock in the morning. Nothing was found at the time, but on the occasion of a second visit the police found the gloves, gossamer, and the piece of crochet work. Mrs. Hughes corroberated.

Mary Elizabeth Angwin was charged with stealing a brown wickerwork basket containing £1 notes, a purse, piece of gossamer, and a pair of gloves, the property of Robert George Hughes, gardener, of Cherry Gardens. Mr. H. E Downer, M.P., defended. The prosecutor and his wife went to Prospect in a trap and drove up to his brother-in-law's house, they went inside for about ten minutes, leaving the basket containing the articles mentioned in the information, in the vehicle. When the couple returned the basket had disappeared. The wife of the prosecutor identified the goods as her property, and a Mr. Collins first said she saw the prisoner taking the basket out of the trap, but on being subsequently cross-examined she said she could not be "exactly positive." Constable Beckman arrested the prisoner and found some of the articles in her house. The case was adjourned till Friday next.

Hughes, of Prospect. Mr. H. E. Downer, M.P., appeared for the defendant, who pleaded not guilty. Mr. Downer called evidence for the defence, and tried to set up an 'alibi. Miss Silke said the gloves belonged to her, and the defendant's mother stated that the lace was her own work. Tbe case was again adjourned till Monday.

HUGHES.- The Friends of the late Robert George Hughes (retired school teacher), late of 60 Rathay-street, Victoria Park, formerly of South Australia, dearly beloved husband of Florence Elizabeth Hughes, and loving father of Aubrey, Edgar, Bernice and Myra, are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the place of interment, the Methodist Cemetery, Karrakatta. The death occurred yesterday of Mr. Robert George Hughes, retired school-teacher, at his home in Rathay-street, Victoria Park. The late Mr. Hughes was 64 years of age. He received his training
in South Australia, the place of his birth being Adelaide. He was married at Enfield, not far from Adelaide, in 1892, and came to Western Australia about eight years later. He has been here since then. A widow and four children survive him.

In the WILL AND ESTATE of ROBERT GEORGE HUGHES, late of Victoria Park, formerly of Williams, in the state of Western Australia, retired school teacher, deceased. . . Notice is hereby given that all persons having claims against the estate of the abovenamed deceased are hereby required to send particulars thereof in writing to the Administrator with the Will, namely The Perpetual Executors Trustees and Agency Company (WJL) Limited, of St George's-terrace, Perth, on or before the 11th day of January 1932, and that at the expiration of that date the Administrator with the Will will distribute the assets of the said deceased among the persons lawfully entitled thereto, having regard only to such claims of which the Administrator with the Will shall have had notice. Perth, the Administrator with the Will annexed of the Estate of Robert George Hughes, deceased, has made application to be registered under the Transfer of Land Act. 1893 as the proprietor of an estate in fee simple in possession in the following parcel of land situate in the Williams District and being:
Part of Williams Location 23 containing 37 acres 2 roods 15 perches. Bounded on the south and west by parts of north and east boundaries of Location 4982 measuring 15 chains 16 and five-tenths links and 20 chains 3 links respectively. On the north by the south boundary of Location 197 measuring 19 chains 74 and five tenths links. On the cast and again on the north by lines forming west and south boundaries of another part of the said Location 23 measuring 7 chains 5 and three-tenths links and 55 links respectively. Again on the east by part of the right bank of the Williams River measuring approximately 2 chains 50 links. And again on the south and east by lines forming north and west boundaries of another part of the said Location 23 measuring 94 links and ll chains 22 and six tenths links respectively.
