The Register (Adelaide) Wednesday 6 December 1922
IN THE COURTS
BONDSMAN AND BAIL.
At the Supreme Court on Tuesday, a request was received from Mrs. Mabel Emma Gage, wife of the bondsman (William Gage), who had gone bail in the sum of £80 for a party who did not appear to take his trial at the Gladstone Circuit Court, asking that the balance of £30 still unpaid on the recognizance be remitted: Following a number of questions to witness, the Chief Justice said the Court was of the opinion that the interests of justice had been served by the payment of £50. Bondsmen, however, must understand their obligations when recognizances were entered into. To require payment of the remaining £30 in the present instance would mean a heavy burden on the bondsman and his wife and family. Mr. Gage would therefore be relieved of further liability.

Recorder (Port Pirie) Wednesday 6 December 1922

The wife of the bondsman (Mrs. Mabel Emma Gage) asked that the balance of the recognisance unpaid might be remitted. She explained that her husband had already paid £50 and £30 remained to be paid.
