Bequest from grandfather Nicholas Hue's Will:
Nicholas was to receive £20 when he came of age, and this bequest was connected with a lease that was to come to Nicholas after his grandfather's death. I rather suspect that this was the lease of a farm at Askham Richard, about five miles from Newton Kyme.
Probate act book: "On 20 June 1615 administration of the goods of Nicholas Hewes, late of Askham Richard, deceased, was granted to Bridgett Hewes, widow, his relict. An inventory below £40 was exhibited, and the said Bridgett and others were bound."
