Pensioner Dies Hurrying For Wrong Train
While hurrying to catch a train to the city on Thursday morning, Bertram John Keane, 53, invalid pensioner, of Blackwood. collapsed approaching the Blackwood station, and died soon afterwards. He mistook the whistle of a special train for another he intended to catch to Mitcham, to collect his fortnightly pension. Constable F. C. Williams, of Thebarton. who is living at Black wood, was also hurrying to the station when Keane collapsed near him. With Mounted Constable A. L. Merlin, of Stirling, he submitted a report to the City Coroner (Mr. Blackburn). Keane has left a widow and eight children. between four and 18 years of age.
