BAWDEN.-On the 3rd October, at his residence, Hundred of Butler, Sydney M. Bawden, J.P., dearly-beloved husband of Dorothy Bawden, aged 56 years (suddenly).

Transcontinental (Port August SA) Friday 24 October 1919
Death Report, page 164:
Sidney Milton Bawden, farmer, in the Hundred of Butler, died suddenly on the morning of October 3. The deceased had been in ill health for some time. When last seen alive he stated that he would take a walk and try and shoot a crow. Alongside the deceased was lying a military 303 rifle with a discharged cartridge in the breech. A thorough examination of the body was made but there were no signs of violence or wounds. It is surmised that the deceased fired a shot at an object, and the concusion from the explosion was too great for him in his weak state of health.
