Chronicle Thursday 5 September 1935 HOME PROJECT CLUB NOTES POULTRY AT CHERRY GARDENS, Shirley Strange, the daughter of Mrs. L. Strange, writes:- "On July 1 last year my mother gave me 30 fowls for my home project. I feed the fowls in the morning on a mash of chaff, pollard and skimmed milk and at night on wheat. I also give them shellgrit to harden the egg shell, and I give them water in a trough regularly. As they ate not shut up, they obtain as much green feed as they like. I gather the eggs every day, and obtain an average of 70 a week. I sell the eggs to A. A. Brice & Co., Adelaide, every week. At the end of October my mother set two hens, and from one I got 11 chicks, and from the other nine. My income since January amounts to £7 15/, and the expenditure to £5 6/9, leaving a profit of £2 8/3."
