The South Australian Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1858 - 1889) Thu 9 Aug 1860 NAIRNE. MONDAY. AUGUST 6. Present-Messrs. Bee, Chairman; Sloggett, Hair, and Pearson. Sworn in as constables-Messrs. William Doney and Thomas Stally, for Ward No. 1, South Nairne ; Charles Harding and Joel Matthews, No. 2, North Nairne ; Robert Brindley and Richard Burly, No. 3, Harrogate; Ernest Unger and William Soukin, No. 4, Kanmantoo; John Äthers and William Williams, No. 5. Callington, to serve till 30th June, 1861. The Clerk laid on the table a list of arrears of rates from 1856 to 1858. Timber licences were granted to C. Sommers, yearly; Thomas Hair, quarterly. Various returns were laid on the table. The Council granted another fortnight for applications for depasturing licences. See advertisement.
Yorke's Peninsula Advertiser (SA : 1878 - 1922) Fri 29 Sep 1905 Local and General: Another old resident of the district passed away on Wednesday in the person of the late Mr William Doney, of East Moonta, aged 67 years and 5 months. The deceased gentleman who well-know and respected, had. suffered from a long illness, being incapacitated from work for about 20 years. He was a colonist of about 65 years and prior to joining to this district resided at3Nairne. He leaves a grown-up family. The funeral is to take place this (Friday) afternoon.
